Bharat or Syrian Pepper: How to Make the Middle Eastern Spice Mix

Bharat, or Syrian Pepper as it was known in my family, is a 7 spice mix that is used commonly in Middle Eastern cooking. It combines all spice, black pepper, cinnamon, a little nutmeg, cloves, and cardamom for the perfect mix. You could also add paprika or cayenne for some spice if your heart desires. Bharat is perfect when added to tabbouleh, tagines, falafel, or any recipe that you are looking to give that Arabic flair. This would be especially good as a dry meat rub for lamb or chicken as well.

You may see Bharat in the spice section as Middle Eastern 7 Spice, which is how they have it listed here. I have not found in grocery stores in the US, but you might be able to find it on Amazon. It is also quite easy to make; you just need the 7 spices! I will order the ingredients as percentages and you can adjust to your taste and also the batch size you wish to make.
