How to Make the Viral Chopped Sub

How to Make the Viral Chopped Sub

I am late to the party, but the chopped sub has been making the rounds on social media, so you know I had to jump on the trend and show you the right way to make this filling lunch.

I am not entirely sure where this trend came from, but I have my hypothesis. Remember when Subway made their chopped salad? It was so good. You could get a salad, drink, and chips for under $10, which was way too good of a deal. And then poof – DISCONTINUED! And it is missed. Honestly, I think this chopped sub is just the salad on a roll.

And I am not mad at a chopped salad on a roll. You know I love my carbs and veggies, so I am so on board with this trend. Learn how to make the viral chopped sub the right way below.

This recipe is for one sandwich and it’s your choice to split it or eat it all on your own.

Chopped Sub Ingredients:

1 roll of your choice. Use a sub roll, not a ciabatta bread like I did. It was very tasty but extremely messy.

2 slices of deli turkey

1 slice of provolone

1/2 tomato sliced

2 slices of a red onion

Throw in a few leaves of iceberg lettuce

1/4 cup of baby spinach

2 slices of a bell pepper

A couple of olives and jalapeno rings

A drizzle of olive oil and red wine vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Take your turkey, provolone, tomato, onion, iceberg lettuce, spinach, bell pepper, olives, and jalapenos and combine them on a cutting boards. Mince those ingredients together, slicing like you are Michael Myers in Halloween 58!
  2. Once everything is chopped, add your ingredients to a bowl and add salt and pepper to taste. Then, drizzle with olive oil and vinegar and mix together.
  3. Slice your roll lengthwise, but not all the way through! Add the chopped salad mixture to the roll and devour.
