Homemade Salsa: Easy to Make and Better than Store Bought

Homemade Salsa: Easy to Make and Better than Store Bought

I am a salsa lover and I believe that chips are a mere vessel for the spicy and tomatoey goodness that is homemade salsa. Little did I know that this is yet another recipe that is simple to make at home and even better than the store bought stuff.

My homemade salsa recipe is perfect for almost any chip and nearly every taco that it comes across. It’s spicy and the ratio of tomato to pepper to cilantro is just perfect. It is addictive and I could almost eat this as a soup, almost (almost = I could but I will refrain).

To make this homemade salsa, all you need to do is finely chop some ingredients that you would expect, add a generous amount of salt and you are good to go. Whether it’s for taco night, to make some nachos, or just to scoop it up on a tortilla chip, it’s the perfect accompaniment for all things that need a little kick!

This homemade salsa recipe makes about 1 cup, but you could double this if you need a big batch. Store it in an airtight container and it should keep for about a week (if it lasts that long!)

Ingredients:

2 roma tomatoes, finely diced

1/2 red onion, finely diced

1/2 bell pepper, finely diced

1 jalapeno or serrano chili, seeded (or not if you like it spicy!) and minced

1 clove of garlic, minced

1/4 cup of cilantro, finely chopped

1 teaspoon of salt

Dash of pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine. It’s that simple! Adjust salt and pepper to taste and you got yourself a delicious homemade salsa!
