There is a time and place for blue cheese. Certainly stuffed in olives for a martini, but blasphemous on charcuterie board. Give me a kraft single before you give me blue cheese next to my drunken goat cheese!
As I have mentioned before, pre packaged foods are not always easy to come by in and around the Dubai area, so I had to figure out the blue cheese olives situation right quick and I was very pleased with the simplicity and deliciousness of the result.
Hand Stuffed Blue Cheese Olives
Tools:
Ziplock bag
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons blue cheese
1 tablespoon cream cheese
1 jar of pitted whole green olives
Instructions:
- Allow both cheeses to come to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix cheeses together, mashing with a fork.
- Place mixture into one corner of a ziplock bag and cut off the corner, like a pastry bag.
- Fill olives with the blue cheese mixture. If you plan on using these for martinis, you can fill the bottom of the storage container you plan to use with dry vermouth; about an inch high. They keep well, but I would try to use them within a week or two because the filling tends to spill out a bit.
