French Toast: Easy and Quick Recipe

French Toast: Easy and Quick Recipe

I always forget that French toast exists and then when I have it I wonder why. It is so good, so simple to make, and I don’t think it’s that bad for you. I mean get some fresh berries on it and it’s a well rounded meal to start your day! You could drown it in tree juice (AKA maple syrup), I guess, but that’s on you.

I think French toast comes out the best when you use fresh-ish bread. Like a day old sourdough so that the crusts hold together but the center is still soft to soak up the batter. But, in reality pretty much any bread will work. So, this breakfast is super easy and versatile with the ingredients you have in your kitchen. Plus, it only take about 10 – 15 minutes to make.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

2 eggs

6 – 8 slices of bread, depending on size

1/2 cup of milk or cream

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of sugar

2 tablespoons of butter

Fresh berries and/or syrup to serve. Blueberries are the best IMO.

Instructions:

  1. Combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon, salt, and sugar in a mixing bowl and whisk together.
  2. Preheat a non stick pan over medium high heat and add the butter to melt.
  3. Dunk the bread into the egg mixture allowing the bread to soak through on both sides.
  4. Add the bread covered in batter to the pan and cook about 3-4 minutes per side so that the exterior is slightly browned but the center is still soft.
  5. Serve about 2 pieces per person with berries and syrup.
