Side Car: How to Make this Classic Cocktail

Side Car: How to Make this Classic Cocktail

The Side Car cocktail is one of those drinks that has stood the test of time. With Parisian origins during World War I and named for just that, a motorcycle side car (how original!), the drink remains a classic through wars, prohibitions, pandemics, and really the beginning of the current apocalyptical cycle.

You might not want this side car cocktail, but you need it to deal with the general trajectory of planet earth. The oceans are on fire, storms are getting wilder, and overall society is downgrading. But have no fear. The Side Car cocktail will certainly out last this and so will you. Just clutch it closely and sip it as necessary.

This recipe makes 1 cocktail. Usually, this is served straight up but I like it with a few ice cubes. Especially, those hand cracked cubes!

Ingredients:

2 ounces brandy

1 ounce lemon juice

1 ounce Cointreau

Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients except for the lemon twist in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a rocks glass over crushed ice. Garnish with a lemon twist and enjoy as the next crisis emerges.

Make this Side Car cocktail with the left over brandy from my chicken marsala. And if you like this drink recipe, be sure to try my negroni.
