How to Make the Perfect Tahini Sauce

Tahini sauce is one of those things you didn’t know you needed in your life. It is so delicious and versatile; you can put this sauce on everything! From the usual suspects of falafel and chicken kofta to halloumi wraps and just drizzling it over salad, grains, meats, whatever needs a little bit of creamy, nutty, delicious-ness and it just works!

If you have visited me here before, you already know that tahini is sesame seeds version of peanut butter. It’s most known for its supporting actor role in hummus, but that does not define my dear tahini. No; tahini is the starring role in its own right. Tahini salad dressing, tahini sauce, give me tahini everything!

So next time you are having a sandwich, a salad, a protein bowl, or even some vegetables but you think it needs just a little something, try whipping up some tahini sauce and giving that food an upgrade! It’s quick and easy to make and you will not regret having it around.

Makes about 1 cup of tahini sauce and keeps for about a week in the fridge in an airtight container.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup good quality tahini

1/4 cup plain yogurt

Juice of 1/2 lemon

1 tablespoon of parsley, finely chopped

1 clove of roasted garlic

1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the tahini, yogurt, and lemon juice stir to combine.
  2. Smash the roasted garlic with the back of a knife and add a little salt. Press and scrape the garlic on a cutting board with the side of a knife blade to create a paste.
  3. Add the garlic paste, the rest of the salt and pepper, and the parsley to the tahini mixture.
  4. Stir to combine. It should be a thick sauce, kind of like the consistency of peanut butter. Enjoy it on everything!
