Have you ever done a favor for someone and they had the audacity to complain about it? I used to do a lot of meal prep on the weekends to prepare for a busy work week and one of the things that I would do was hard boil eggs to grab for breakfast. Simple, right? Well, not so fast. Apparently it was really annoying to my ex because the boiled eggs were too hard to peel. Poor you! But no worries, I got the solution for you.
Surprise, it’s baking soda! One of the only cleansers that happens to be edible. The trick to a perfect and easily peel-able boiled egg every time is starting with cold water, completely covering the egg and adding in about a tablespoon of baking soda. It really works. I also get them to boil and then remove them from the heat to steam with the lead on for desired done-ness.
IMO – anything under a 7 minute egg belongs in a frying pan. Seven minutes gives you a nice, jammy yoke but the white is intact. Perfect for moment when you slice into in a tuna nicoise salad. Eight minutes is also a good option if you like your boiled egg a bit more on the medium side, but still has a soft cooked middle. And 10 – 12 minutes gives you the traditional HB egg you would use for deviled eggs and the like. Pick your favorite for your breakfast bowl!
